What Readers Are Saying
Absolutely Loved IT! Favorite book of the year!

Brilliant historical fiction!
The author has created compelling and captivating main characters. It’s easy to quickly get invested in them and as a result I personally found the book impossible to put down. I read it in just over one day and the only thing that disappointed me was completing the last page.
Like the other historical fiction books I love, Watkins weaved the fact and the fiction seamlessly. His main characters inter played with real people, places, and events in a way that was very satisfying.
Even the settings in this book took on a character of their own.
Lastly, I appreciated how the author through his main character explained the marvels of engineering feats. Caleb to me was like an 1800s Macgyver!
There’s just so much to like.
Fingers crossed this gifted writer gives us another gem and soon!
Enjoyable read

While a fictional account of the Moon sisters and some other well known people in American history, it brought to light some of their activities during the Civil War Era and afterwards. It also brought some light to the southwestern part of Tennessee which is often overlooked in books centered on the Civil War which is great.
History with a thrilling story

Could t put it down and read it front to back. Love the mix of historical facts, engineering descriptions of time period machines and a twist of thrilling suspense. Well written and gripping story.
Awesome! Once You Start Reading It's Difficult To Put It Down!

Quick read; entertaining and I like the historical aspect too. You feel like you are actually there during that time period. Well written. After reading the end you can hardly wait to read the sequel--HOPE there will be one!! I have recommended this book to many people as it does NOT disappoint!
Who knew the back stories always untold!?!?

Amazing & well-written historical tale with a familiarity and yet suspense and a probabilty of untold behind the facts we all only knew the headlines. Great storyteller, from the beginning you are in it!
Excellent Book

I enjoyed reading this novel. The fast-paced action between the fictional characters (Caleb, Moses, and Ginnie) and the historical characters (Boothe and Lincoln) had me eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
Being a resident of southwest Tennessee my whole life, I found the settings of Germantown, Grand Junction, the Wolf River, and many more so satisfying.
I applaud Matt’s knowledge of engineering / industry during the scenes with Caleb.
Great book Matt Watkins!
Historical fiction at its best

The way the author intertwines history and fiction will keep you from putting the book down. Loved the characters and how he paints a mental picture of the mood & scenery of the time .Looking forward to more great stories from this author !

Memphis Moon

Best historical thriller I’ve read in a long time!

Memphis Moon is a fantastic read! Set during the Civil War.
History + Fiction = Great Read

I've never read a book that I couldn't put down. But I couldn't help and pick this one back up. As I read, I googled the history. There isn't much out there. Yet the way that the author took history and filled in the gaps makes this book one I had to finish. The story stays true to what I was able to find which makes this whole book pure pleasure. I'm hoping that Mr. Watkins continues his story. I will be there waiting.
A fun read, especially for those who love historical fiction

Great characters set against the backdrop of historic events and people with a terrific plot that keeps the reader engaged. Wonderful detail around period engineering that gives the story depth and texture. And, at the end a clever setup for a sequel. Looking forward to it!
